Southern Indiana Orthopedics Provides Safe Clinical Care and Online Appointments During COVID-19

Southern Indiana Orthopedics is offering telehealth and clinical care for urgent needs to provide essential orthopedic services while helping prevent the spread of COVID-19. The telehealth solution allows patients to safely visit with one of the practice’s specialty-trained providers remotely using video conferencing technology on a smartphone or tablet. The practice will also offer walk-in, on-site treatment for urgent bone, joint and muscle concerns at their Orthopedic Urgent Care clinic in Columbus at 940 North Marr Road, Suite C, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This approach will help relieve pressure on emergency departments and hospitals while those entities focus efforts on caring for COVID-19 cases.

Southern Indiana Orthopedics’ specialty-trained experts can provide follow-up appointments as well as consultation and care plans for bone, joint and muscle concerns using telehealth. This secure, convenient technology complies with federal health privacy laws and offers area residents accurate, specialized care. Remote telehealth appointments are available for new and existing patients at Southern Indiana Orthopedics. To use the service, patients will need internet access and a smartphone or tablet with a working video camera and microphone.

“At Southern Indiana Orthopedics, our highest priority is the health and safety of our patients and staff,” says Dr. Cary Guse, fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeon and practice president. “Our doctors are also committed to providing essential orthopedic services to our community in Columbus, North Vernon, Seymour, Greensburg and the surrounding areas.

“We are taking all necessary precautions and upholding thorough protocols in line with local and national health safety guidelines to keep everyone safe as we see patients in our clinics,” continues Dr. Guse. “Combined with telehealth, you and your loved ones can be seen safely for all your orthopedic needs, and we can mitigate the burden on our community health system to free up resources for coronavirus treatment.”

Following all mandates set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Indiana State Department of Health, the practice still offers additional on-site treatment and imaging services at this time. As regional experts in orthopedics and related pain and injuries, Southern Indiana Orthopedics will be able to relieve pressure on the local health system and help drastically reduce risk of potential viral exposure through this approach.
